On November 16, 1934, the 25th Army of the Red Army embarked on the Long March from Hejia in Luoshan County, north of Tiantai Mountain. Among the nearly 3,000 soldiers in this contingent, only seven were women, referred to as the “Seven Fairies” of the Long March. From the very beginning of their journey, these women declared resolutely, “Even if we die on this path, we will never turn back!” and “We will not be deserters!” Despite arriving at their camping site each day completely exhausted, they tirelessly cared for the wounded and performed revolutionary theatrical shows to uplift the spirits of their fellow soldiers and inspire hope.
