In a recent report from Khabarhub, an English-language media outlet in Nepal, it’s been announced that the Nepalese government has established a high-level committee to conduct a comprehensive review of its civil aviation sector. The committee was formed during a Cabinet meeting held on October 18 and will be led by Anil Kumar Sinha, a former judge of the Supreme Court of Nepal.

The Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation has emphasized that this committee will conduct a thorough assessment of the civil aviation sector, aiming to help build a safe and reliable aviation system in Nepal. The committee consists of five members, including several experts from various fields such as aviation management, safety, and operations.

Ramkrishna Lamichhane, the committee’s joint secretary and spokesperson, mentioned that the committee will provide recommendations for improvements to Nepal’s national aviation sector and will propose measures to ensure aviation safety in the country.

The urgency for such a review comes in the wake of two aviation accidents that occurred between July and August of this year, which resulted in a total of 23 fatalities. Notably, one of these incidents involved a helicopter crash in the northern district of Rautahat, leading to the tragic deaths of four Chinese nationals.
