From October 24 to 25, multiple locations in the Gaza Strip faced ongoing attacks by the Israeli military. On October 24, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) issued a statement declaring their goal to “completely end” operations against Hezbollah in Lebanon.
Reports from Al Jazeera and the Palestinian News Agency detail that the Gaza Civil Defense stated the IDF conducted extensive airstrikes on the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza for several hours, flattening at least ten buildings. This assault resulted in approximately 150 civilian casualties, including women and children, with the death toll expected to rise as rescue workers have had difficulty reaching the affected areas.
On the evening of October 24, the IDF also shelled the Kamal Adwan Hospital in the northern Gaza town of Beit Lahiya, firing machine guns at medical facilities and causing severe damage to the intensive care unit.
According to an October 25 report by the Associated Press, the IDF bombed a school in the al-Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza on October 24, leading to at least 17 deaths. Al-Awda Hospital, which treated the injured, reported that 42 people were wounded in the attack, including 13 children and 3 women.
The IDF stated that their target was Hamas militants within the school, but offered no evidence to support this claim.
The Israel Times reported on October 24 that IDF Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi claimed that the military had “completely destroyed” Hezbollah’s high command structure and anticipated the ability to “fully conclude” operations against Hezbollah in northern Israel, though he did not provide further details.
On the same day, Saudi Arabia’s Al-Monitor reported that 111 airstrikes and artillery incidents occurred over the past day in southern Lebanon and Nabatiyeh. Lebanese health officials announced that 19 people had died and 118 were injured in the last 24 hours.
According to the Lebanese health department, there are currently 1,096 shelters accommodating over 190,000 individuals who have been displaced due to Israeli attacks. Of these, 928 shelters are already at full capacity. Additionally, many people are crossing the border into Syria in search of safety. Records indicate that from September 23 to October 24, nearly 500,000 individuals crossed into Syria, including over 150,000 Lebanese citizens and more than 340,000 Syrian nationals.
The Israel Times reported that between October 23 and 24, five Israeli soldiers lost their lives in clashes with Hezbollah in southern Lebanon, and several others were injured.
U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, during a meeting with Qatari officials in Doha on October 24, stated that the U.S. is working to break the deadlock in ceasefire negotiations between Israel and Hamas.
The Israeli Prime Minister’s office announced on the evening of October 24 that they would send the head of the Mossad to Doha on October 27 for a new round of negotiations regarding a ceasefire and the release of Israeli hostages held in Gaza.
Osama Hamdan, a senior Hamas official, spoke to Lebanon’s “Al-Mayadeen” TV, confirming that Hamas representatives had assessed the situation regarding the resumption of ceasefire talks but reiterated that Hamas continues to demand an end to Israeli operations in Gaza and a complete withdrawal from the region.
Additionally, reports from Egypt on October 24 indicated that Khalil Hayya, a Hamas leader, led a delegation to Cairo, meeting with the head of Egypt’s General Intelligence, Hassan Rashad, and other officials to discuss the ceasefire negotiations and humanitarian aid to Gaza.
